Finalists in Cambridgeshire Digital Awards
Today we were delighted to discover that we are finalists in the Cambridgeshire Digital Awards. In fact, we have 3 websites that are vying for gold, bronze or silver.
Cambridge Womens Resources Centre
CWRC were struggling with an old website they could not update themselves. They were desperately fundraising so they could engage a web designer but we stepped in and offered to build them a new site at no cost to the organisation.
We also pulled in the services of local photographer, Helena g Anderson, to take some photos of the staff and clients around the Mill Road area where CWRC is based. It was important that the site had a sense of place so clients could relate to it.
The new site allows CWRC to update text and images themselves and has a news database to keep the site fresh and visitors abreast of what's happening. It is also linked up to their social media pages so it is working hard for them and an asset to the organisation - no longer a millstone around their neck and a frustration.
Noreen Jones, one of the Trustees said:
I was delighted when I saw the revamped Cambridge Womens Resources Centre website. It is so bright and fresh and really welcoming which is what CWRC is all about. I was also very impressed by the colour scheme which makes the site very accessible for people like myself, suffering from dyslexia. It is so often difficult to find your way around a website and even read the text. The CWRC site presents no such problems and is a joy to visit."
Angel + Blume
Angel + Blume was founded in 2002 by Interior Designer, Cate Burren. Cate’s exacting standards and creative approach meant the company grew rapidly between then and 2015, adding a diverse range of projects to their portfolio: both domestic and corporate.
The website now contains a portfolio of Cate’s design work, a facility for people to book onto her workshops and courses, a database of press articles, and a directory of suppliers.
The directory (address book) was something Cate was very passionate about and contains only tried and tested suppliers. So it’s a mine of information and easy for visitors to refine a search for specific styles as well as products. Cate can also provide the suppliers with information about the number of click throughs from the Angel + Blume website to theirs. There are plans afoot to enhance the directory later this year.
The client was absolutely delighted with the design, the functionality, and the ease of updating the site now it all runs off a content management system with the suppliers on a database.
The website has enhanced the company image online and the search engine friendly nature of our websites ensure they are ranked first on page 1 of Google for ‘interior design cambridge’ (organic search).
Calico Cottage is a small family business based in Haddenham. It was started in 1989 by Nigel Baker and 25 years on is an established British manufacturing success story with year on year growth right through the recent recession. Mixes and fudge making machinery are all made in their factory in Cambridgeshire.
Due to the rapid recent growth of the business and plans to showcase more products on the QVC channel, the website needed redevelopment to make it more robust and easier to update inhouse.
The site needed to embrace Calico’s 2 target markets: trade and the general public. B2B customers can login to the trade section for recipes, training and equipment maintenance videos, and to order supplies. For people wishing to make fudge at home three are also recipes, demonstration videos and a shop where they can buy mixes and kits.
Nigel Baker says: “We approached Jane at Catfish in November 2014 to design a new business to business and business to consumer website. We went live in February 2015 and by May we were on the first page of a google search for Fudge and had a three-fold increase in website visits.”
The general feedback from customers had been great as the site is much easier to navigate and purchasing online is now a seamless operation. The wonderful photos taken by Georgina Baker (Nigel’s daughter) are really enticing and have helped to tempt more visitors to become regular customers.
The Awards take place on 19 November in St. Ives.
