Redeveloping a successful website
At the beginning of this year we were appointed to redevelop the Go Glass Designs website.
It appears that Go Glass is a bit of an ‘institution’ in Cambridge. Everyone I spoke to locally knew of the company, that has its 40th anniversary this year, and most had used their services. However, there was a perception that they simply replaced glass in windows.
The reality is that they do so much more than that. We were staggered by the incredible designs they produce from their workshop at the back of the shop on Cherry Hinton Road. It is cutting edge stuff. Clive Sparks, the Design Director, gave us a tour and showed us projects currently being worked on by his dedicated team.
Go Glass website before
Go Glass has moved on over the years, but people seemed unaware of the range of products, and the website certainly did not reflect their quality and beauty. Their commercial clients include well-known national companies as well as local.
However, despite the website looking very dated and being difficult to navigate, it was bringing in business and ranking well with Google. Although the client knew they needed to upgrade as it was no longer reflective of their business, they were feeling cautious. It's an interesting pointer for other businesses that even though you may be well-established and business is booming, you cannot rest on your laurels.
Our initial meeting with Tracy Saunders, Strategic Director, was very positive. I immediately warmed to her as a person but could also see how focussed she was on the direction she wanted to take the company. This meant we had a clear brief on the objectives of the website redevelopment.
Also at the meeting was Tracy’s SEO expert. It was helpful to have his input at the outset and I feel he was reassured that we knew our stuff and would ensure that the excellent Google rankings he had achieved would not be lost.
When we presented our design to Tracy and she saw the vision of the future, her fears subsided.

What our work included:
We feel the website now does justice to the wonderful glass designs. Go Glass wanted the site to feel like an art gallery, and we believe we have achieved that. The launch of the website coincides with the grand opening of the new Glass Design Studio.
What the client says: "To celebrate our 40th year in business we launch our new glass design website. Our thanks to the incredibly talented and creative team Catfish Web Design for our fresh updated look. We cannot recommend Jane highly enough."
