My favourite cocktails for a jolly old Christmas
20/12/2020
After a year of trouble and strife, I am looking forward to a break over the Christmas period when I can step away from my computer, put my feet up (instead of under my desk) and indulge in a few treats.
The Catifsh and Colleagues Christmas meal won't happen. We've held this at The Boot in Histon for the past 2 years and it's always a lovely way to end the working year. On a personal level I have had to cancel our traditional Christmas Eve drinks drop in which is always a great success. Christmas Day won't involve any friends this year, just family including of course the dogs.
However, this won't prevent me from whipping up a few cocktails. Here are my top 3 for Christmas 2020.
NEGRONI
1 measure gin
1 measure Martini Rosso
1 measure Campari
Slice of dried orange or fresh
One ice cube (make sure you invest in a massive silicone ice cube tray for the best result)
Pour everything into a glass and drink.
PISCO SOUR
50ml Pisco (Peruvian if you can)
50ml lime juice
50ml sugar syrup
1 egg white
large handful of ice
Few drops of Angostura bitters
Pour the Pisco, lime juice and sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker or blender with the egg white and add a large handful of ice. Shake vigorously for 30 secs,, then strain into 2 glasses. Add a few drops of Angostura bitters to the top of each cocktail.
BLACK RUSSIAN
2 ounces vodka
1 ounce kahlua
Add the ingredients into a glass with ice and stir until chilled.
